Frequently asked questions

A simpler system starts with clear answers.

Firmstead is practice management software for tax, bookkeeping and advisory firms. Below are answers to the questions firms ask most about setup, pricing, the client portal, security and data ownership.

What is Firmstead?

Firmstead is practice management software for tax, accounting, bookkeeping and financial advisory firms. It combines client records, workflows, document requests, e-signatures, a client portal, invoicing and payments, and security controls in one workspace.

How quickly can we get started?

Most firms are ready to invite clients in a day. Your workflows, document requests, roles, and client portal are configured from the start—there is no implementation project.

Can Firmstead replace our existing tools?

Yes. Firmstead brings client records, workflows, documents, e-signatures, messaging, invoicing, and payments into one connected workspace.

How does Firmstead protect client information?

Firmstead requires MFA for staff, encrypts client information in transit and at rest, and provides role-based access, detailed audit logs, vendor oversight, and controls designed around the FTC Safeguards Rule.

How much does Firmstead cost?

Starter is $299 per month for up to 3 staff, Practice is $599 per month for up to 10 staff, and Growth is $999 per month for up to 25 staff. Prices are in USD, there are no implementation fees, and annual billing is available.

Do clients pay to use the portal?

No. Every plan includes unlimited client portal users. Clients sign in with their email and a one-time code.

Which workflows are included?

Every plan includes 14 ready-made workflows, including client onboarding, individual and business tax returns, tax planning, bookkeeping onboarding and monthly close, financial planning and investment advisory onboarding, insurance case follow-up, annual client review and client offboarding.

Can we use our own firm branding?

Yes. Your client portal, emails, document requests, and signing experiences can carry your firm’s name, logo, and colors.

Is our data portable?

Yes. Your firm owns its data. Client, workflow, document, and billing records can be exported whenever you need them.
